Pulaski Detention Center Release Paths
Pulaski County Detention Center is a county jail and intergovernmental detention facility at 20 Justice Drive in Ullin. A person on a Pulaski County matter may leave for the community after a court orders pretrial release, bond is completed where applicable, charges are dismissed, time is served, or a jail sentence ends. About Pulaski Detention Center
The county describes the center as a 240-bed facility housing people for Pulaski County, Alexander County, and the U.S. Marshals Service. The 2024 IDOC inspection also documents contracts involving Alexander County, Union County, and USMS. Those overlapping authorities explain why a facility departure cannot be understood from a name alone.
Pulaski County has no separate IDOC prison or BOP prison identified for this project. A state-sentenced defendant is tracked through IDOC after transfer. A sentenced federal prisoner may later enter BOP, while a USMS detainee can move among contract facilities without becoming a BOP prisoner at the Ullin site.
Pulaski ICE Custody Changed
Pulaski's jail historically held ICE detainees. The county ended that contract in 2021 under Illinois's Way Forward Act, and current county and 2024 inspection sources identify USMS and neighboring-county roles rather than active ICE detention. Older ICE records should therefore be read in their time context.
A historical disappearance from ICE custody could have represented release or transfer. For current federal movement from Ullin, trace the USMS authority and federal court first, then use the BOP locator where a sentenced federal case entered BOP custody. Do not describe the former ICE role as a current county release channel.
The change also matters when reviewing old news or oversight reports. They can describe conditions and a custody mix that no longer matches current operations, even though the physical Ullin site is the same.
Tri-County to Pulaski Detention Center
An older PREA audit identifies the site as the formerly private Tri-County Detention Center and reports that Pulaski County took it back in 2015. Current records classify it as a county jail with regional and USMS contract roles. Both names may lead to records about the same location, but they do not describe the same operator or custody mix.
When requesting an older release record, include the name used at the time, the Ullin address, approximate custody dates, and any booking or agency number. That detail helps the FOIA officer locate records without treating the old facility name as a separate present-day jail. For a current event, use Pulaski County Detention Center.

Pulaski Multi-Jurisdiction Release Fields
The 2024 inspection identifies USMS, Alexander County, and Union County contract roles, while the county facility page lists Pulaski, Alexander, and USMS. This mix makes committing authority and destination essential fields. Without them, a departure date says only that one booking ended.
Ask whether the person was released on a Pulaski case, returned to another county, committed to IDOC, or transferred under federal authority. If more than one hold existed, request the hold or detainer notation that can be released. Then contact the receiving agency rather than expecting Pulaski to certify the full later path.

Pulaski Release Sources After Ullin
A Pulaski court record explains a local order or disposition, but it does not prove the physical timestamp. The jail entry completes that local picture. For USMS movement, read the federal docket and contact the proper federal custodian. BOP's locator can show a release date and a RELEASED status for covered federal records, meaning the person is no longer in BOP custody. It does not answer for county, IDOC, or ICE custody. Each database describes its own legal custodian.
Sealing or expungement can restrict eligible official records according to the order and custodian. It does not convert a transfer into a community release or guarantee that every independent copy disappears. Juvenile and protected matters have separate access limits, so an absent record should not be treated as proof of a specific outcome.
