Reading Pulaski County Release Events
A Pulaski County release record answers when one custodian stopped holding a person, why that custody ended, and where the person went. It is not the same as an arrest record or a court judgment. The jail record documents the physical event. The Pulaski Circuit Court file explains the order or disposition behind it. A name dropping from a live roster does not prove either fact.
At the Ullin detention center, “released” can mean entry into the community after pretrial release, dismissal, time served, or sentence completion. It can also mean transfer to the Illinois Department of Corrections, another county, or federal custody. Probation is a court sentence in the community. Parole or mandatory supervised release follows state prison custody. Each path leaves a different record trail.
How Pulaski County Custody Ends
The label on a record must be read with the destination and releasing authority. Illinois pretrial practice has changed, so the actual court order is more reliable than generic bail language. A completed jail release timestamp is also stronger than assuming that an order was carried out at once.

Death can also end custody, but it must never be presented as an ordinary community release. A record should be read in context before its status is summarized.
Pulaski County Release Record Fields
The detention center does not promise a fixed public screen, but a focused request can identify the existing records and fields needed to reconstruct a stay. Ask for the booking face sheet, release screen, release-log entry, and any releasable booking photograph tied to the correct episode.

IDOC keeps a different state master file. Its directives describe admission and release data, sentence calculations, date and type of release, a release checklist, detainer and status material, photographs, supervision documents, and later discharge. Those state records do not replace a Pulaski County jail timestamp.
Request Pulaski County Release Records
The official detention-center instructions permit mail, email, fax, or hand delivery. Address the request to Pulaski County Detention Center, FOIA Officer, 20 Justice Drive, Ullin, IL 62992. - Identify the person, approximate stay, date of birth if known, case number, and booking number.
- Ask for existing nonexempt booking and release records, not a custom report or an answer to a research question.
- Name the needed fields: admission time, actual release time, release type, authority, destination, and releasable hold notation.
- Request electronic copies, accept redaction, and ask that any withholding cite its statutory basis.
- For a date range, state exact start and end times and request an existing release log “if maintained.”

Illinois FOIA generally gives a public body five business days for a noncommercial response, subject to a written statutory extension. The first 50 standard black-and-white pages are generally free, and later pages may cost up to $0.15 each. Pulaski publishes no jail-specific fee schedule, so request electronic delivery and ask for an estimate.
Pulaski Release Law and Retention
The Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140, covers records held by public bodies and includes photographs and electronic data, subject to privacy, law-enforcement, juvenile, and other exemptions. A mixed record should be released in segregable form after protected material is withheld. Juvenile, sealed, expunged, medical, victim-identifying, and security-sensitive information may remain unavailable.
Expungement or sealing can alter access to eligible arrest, court, and criminal-history records. It does not make the historic end of custody untrue, and it does not guarantee that every independently published copy disappears. A missing result is not proof that no case or jail stay existed.
Pulaski Bond-Out Is Not Final Proof
The detention-center page displays “Post Bond” and refers to credit-card bonding in a JPay notice. It does not explain which current cases or custodians qualify. A payment label does not prove that bond was accepted, that every hold was cleared, or that the person walked out.
Confirm the current order through the Circuit Clerk’s route, then obtain the jail’s completed physical release record. This two-source check avoids treating an intended bond-out as a finished Pulaski County release.
Search for Pulaski County Released Inmates
Start with the last legal custodian rather than searching every current roster. Pulaski County has no verified 24-hour, 72-hour, historical release feed, or official sheriff app. The absence of a name from a roster is therefore neither a release record nor proof that the person was never held.
- Confirm the Illinois facility by matching Ullin, the 618 area code, and the official county domain. Similar Pulaski County sites from other states can mislead a search.
- Search the Pulaski criminal case through the Circuit Clerk’s officially linked Judici route. Match identity and case number, then read the latest order, dismissal, sentence, credit, or modification.
- Call the detention center at 618-845-3512 to ask whether its custody ended and whether the event was release or transfer.
- Check Illinois VINE for a specific person and agency. Treat a custody update as a lead, not a permanent certified history.
- If the person entered IDOC, use the state search during incarceration or parole. Request state records if the person has fully discharged.
- For USMS, BOP, or immigration custody, move to the relevant federal court or agency source.
- Request the Pulaski release record for final written proof of time, type, authority, and destination.

Pulaski Court Orders and Jail Timing
Pulaski County’s Sheriff and Circuit Clerk both direct court-record users to Judici, and Illinois Courts places the county in the First Judicial Circuit. A docket can explain the legal cause for release, including a pretrial order, dismissal, sentence, or later change. It does not establish when detention staff completed identity checks, paperwork, property return, or the actual custody handoff.
Reconcile the case with the detention-center record because the signed order and physical release need not share a timestamp. If the two sources seem inconsistent, use the case number and booking identifier when asking each custodian to check the relevant record.
Illinois Offender Search After Pulaski Release
The Illinois Department of Corrections Individual in Custody Search covers state prison custody and parole, not an ordinary Pulaski jail release. The official form accepts a full or partial last name, IDOC number, or birth date. IDOC says its web search returns people currently incarcerated or on parole. It is not promised as a lasting archive of people who fully completed supervision.

The image shows the correct official entry point. A missing result may mean final discharge, a search mismatch, or that IDOC was never the custodian, so request admission, release, and discharge records when needed.
Pulaski Release Identity and Record Corrections
IDOC release preparation includes master-file review, sentence-calculation checks, a warrant check, release documents, intended-residence information, identity material, and status-change records. That process belongs to a state prison release. The research found no Pulaski jail policy describing property-return steps, a release door, gate money, or identity-document help.
If an IDOC date, type, or identity detail appears wrong, contact the actual custodian and provide the IDOC number and case documents. A web profile disappearing is not a correction. For a local error, use the Pulaski booking and case identifiers so the detention center can locate the right stay.

A date-range request should define exact timestamps and ask for an existing report if maintained.
Search engines may surface a prominent Pulaski jail site whose underlying data belongs to Kentucky. Do not use it for Illinois. Check Ullin, `pulaskicountyil.net`, and the 618 contact before trusting any apparent roster.
Pulaski Release Supervision and VINE
Probation is handled through First Judicial Circuit court services and Pulaski County Probation. IDOC’s Parole Division supervises parole and mandatory supervised release, while the Illinois Prisoner Review Board sets conditions and conducts defined hearings. A court docket can show that probation was ordered, but the office or a certified record is better evidence of current status.
Illinois VINE can search participating custody data and provide notifications for events such as release or transfer. The research found no current facility-by-facility participation list, so test the Pulaski record rather than assuming a complete feed. VINE is a fast alert or lead, not the jail’s historical release archive.
Pulaski Federal and Historic ICE Custody
A USMS prisoner housed in Ullin may move to another contract jail or enter BOP custody without entering the community. USMS has no public name-based released-prisoner locator, so use the federal docket for the detention or release order. Use the BOP locator only for a sentenced person in BOP custody. A past BOP release date and “RELEASED” location mean BOP custody ended, not that all supervision or other custody ended.
Pulaski County historically held ICE detainees, but the county ended its ICE contract in 2021. Current county and 2024 inspection sources list USMS and neighboring counties, not active ICE detention. ICE ODLS covers current detainees and people released from ICE custody within the preceding 60 days, subject to exclusions and lag. A county handoff to ICE is a transfer, not an ICE community release.
Getting Home After Pulaski Release
No official source gives daily release times, a family waiting area, a designated release door, or a jail transport program. Call before travel and ask the detention center where and when pickup is permitted. Do not assume an estimated legal date is the time staff will finish processing.
Shawnee Mass Transit District serves Pulaski County and nearby southern Illinois counties. Its route information requires reservations at least 24 hours ahead and asks riders to be ready before pickup, but it does not publish a stop at 20 Justice Drive. Call 866-577-6278 to ask whether a jail pickup can be arranged rather than expecting walk-up service.
Pulaski Jail Names Across Time
An older PREA audit calls the Ullin site the formerly private Tri-County Detention Center and says Pulaski County took it back in 2015. Current sources classify it as a county jail with regional and USMS contract roles. “Tri-County Detention Center,” “Pulaski County Jail,” and “Pulaski County Detention Center” may describe the same physical site in different periods, but not the same operator or custody mix.
This history matters when searching older records. Confirm the date, address, committing authority, and operator rather than discarding a result solely because it uses an earlier facility name.
Where Pulaski Released Inmates Appear
Use the system that owns the question. Current-custody tools show who remains held, while release and discharge records preserve an endpoint after a live name disappears.

Pulaski County Detention Facility
Pulaski County Detention Center, Ullin: This county jail and intergovernmental detention facility is the project’s only verified local release facility. A local detainee may enter the community or transfer to IDOC. A neighboring-county or federal detainee may return to another authority. No separate municipal jail, IDOC prison, or BOP prison in Pulaski County was verified for its own release page.
